Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime with 2GB RAM, 16GB Internal Storage launched for Rs.6,999
Xiaomi has been expanding this year a lot with launch of its devices in new countries while the focus of company has been the India. And that can be seen in the aggressive pricing model and day by day launch of new products and accessories in the Country. Now a new variant of Redmi 2, the affordable mid-range smartphone ‘Redmi 2 Prime‘ is launched in India for Rs.6,999.
Now the best thing is, this will be the first smartphone from the company to be manufactured in India. All the Redmi 2 Prime will feature a ‘Made in India’ Logo. The Redmi 2 Prime smartphones will be available to purchase from official Mi website along with other leading online stores. According to Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi Global, “In overtime every device Xiaomi sells in India will be manufactured in India.”
During the launch of Redmi 2 in India, Xiaomi announced that a limited edition variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage will be launched sometime soon. But nothing has been launched until now, but a device with same specifications is announced in Singapore as ‘Redmi 2 Prime’ in March 2015 for $179. With the today’s listing, we can also expect the device to be launched with next few week.
Coming to the specifications, the device sports a 4.7-inch HD (1280×720) display with a DragonTrail protection over it. Under the hood, there is a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 2GB of RAM. As announced it comes with 16GB of internal storage and also with a microSD card slot with storage expansion upto 32GB.
All this is powered by a removable battery of 2,200mAh capacity. Coming to the camera, it has an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera. It offers dual SIM dual standby support with 4G LTE connectivity. The device runs on MIUI 6 based on Android 4.4 Kitkat
