Xiaomi launched its latest smartphone called Mi Play in China. While rumors suggested the Mi Play to be the Chinese version of POCO F1, it is actually a completely new device. In fact, the Mi Play is the first smartphone from Xiaomi to come with a waterdrop notch display. The device comes with a gradient finish glossy body and will be available in Black, Dream Blue, and Twilight Gold color options. Even with the 19:9 display, the Mi Play comes with thick bezels on the front.
Talking about the specifications, the device sports 5.84-inch display with Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the new MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core processor built on the 12nm FinFET process. According to the company, this new chipset with Dual (CPU and GPU) Turbo technology offers enhanced performance when needed. There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage on this device.
Coming to the cameras, the Mi Play sports 12MP + 2MP dual rear cameras with f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP single front camera for selfies. The device measures 147.76 x 71.89 x 7.8 mm and weighs around 150 grams. On the rear, we can also spot a circular fingerprint sensor. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable and supports 5V/2A (10W) fast charging. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.
It still runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with MIUI 10 skin on top. The Xiaomi Mi Play with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage is priced at CNY 1099 (approx USD 160 / INR 11,000).
