Coupled of months ago, the Xiaomi Mi Fold device was showcased by Xiaomi’s president Bin Lin revealing its double-folding feature in an image. Now a 10-second video was posted starring the upcoming foldable device from Xiaomi which is expected to be released in the second quarter for US$ 999. The image that was leaked earlier revealed that the device will bend at the top and bottom and becomes a smartphone when both the wings are folded.
The Xiaomi Fold won’t be available in the US as of now and we do not have any word or the company has not announced any press event for this upcoming device yet. The latest video has been posted on the companies Weibo page and we expect more and more leaks coming up in the following weeks. Furthermore, if the speculated pricing of the Mi Fold is going to be true, Xiaomi will be bringing the device with its value for money policy.
Many other smartphone makers will also be launching their foldable device by the end of this year since many have already announced that they have been working on it. Motorola RAZR (2019) from Motorola is also getting ready while Huawei Mate X which will be priced at $2,600 will also be coming soon. The companies like Oppo and TCL are also getting ready with their foldable devices and it will be interesting to see how this new luxury segment will be received in the market.
Furthermore, these device’s will all be running on the Android platform itself and it should be seen how much Android Q will be utilized. The Moto Razr will be a clamshell phone which will open vertically and will be powered by Snapdragon 710 Mobile platform and is said to be priced around $1500. Well, it will be interesting to see what new technology, Xiaomi will be bringing along with the Mi Fold apart from its double fold design.
