At its annual launch event in Shenzhen, China, Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Mi Band 3 fitness tracker. The company also unveiled all-new Mi 8 and Mi 8 SE smartphones with notch displays and high-end specifications. Talking about the Mi Band 3, the company is offering quite a few new features compared to the previous iterations. It is the successor to 2016 launched Mi Band 2. The Mi Band 3 will be costing 169 Yuan (approx $26 / Rs 1,800) in China.
There is also another variant of Mi Band 3 with built-in NFC chip for making mobile payments. It is priced slightly higher at 199 Yuan. It will be initially available in Black, Blue, and Red color options. Compared to previous Mi Bands, the new Mi Band 3 is said to give more accurate data. It can give show steps, sleep tracking, and heart rate tracking data. It will also show sedentary reminders for taking a quick walk after remained seated for a certain time.
The Mi Band 3 will also show message content along with caller ID. There will also be an option to mute the call directly with the Mi Band 3. When paired with the smartphone, the new Mi Band will also show weather information. It sports a 0.78-inch OLED color display with 128 x 80 pixels resolution. On the connectivity front, the Mi Band 3 comes with Bluetooth 4.2. Now, the new Mi Band 3 is also water-resistant up to 5ATM (50 Meters).
Even with all these new features, the Mi Band 3 backed by a 110mAh battery is said to give more than 20 days of battery life with normal usage. It will go on sale starting June 5th in China.
