As announced earlier, Xiaomi launched its all-new Mi Box 4 Set-top Box (STB) in China. Along with the Mi Box 4, the company also launched an affordable Mi Box 4C. While the Mi Box 4 costs 349 Yuan (approx $54 / Rs. 3,499), the Mi Box 4C is priced at 249 Yuan (approx $39 / Rs. 2,499). Both these new STBs are currently available for pre-orders, and the shipping begins from February 1st. Compared to the Mi Box 3, the new Mi Box 4 STBs are relatively smaller in size.

Both the Mi Box 4 and Mi Box 4C are mentioned to come with 4K HDR playback support. Just like the earlier launched Mi Box 3C and Mi Box 3S, the new Mi Box 4 and Mi Box 4C also includes the in-house PatchWall user interface that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to offer the more related content based on users watching behavior. The PatchWall UI now also includes the intelligent voice assistant.

The Mi Box 4 and Mi Box 4C offer up to 4K output at 60 fps and support HDR10. Under the hood is the 64-bit Amlogic S905L quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and comes coupled with 750MHz (3 + 2 cores) Mali-450 GPU. While the Mi Box 4 includes 2GB of RAM and 8GB of flash memory, the Mi Box 4C comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of flash memory. The users can connect a flash drive or an external hard drive using the USB port on the rear.

Along with the Mi Box 4, Xiaomi is bundling the new multi-purpose Mi Remote Control that features new touch-sensitive navigation buttons. While it can be paired with Mi Box STBs using Bluetooth, the company is also offering IR Blaster for using the same remote for controlling other devices. The affordable Mi Box 4C only comes with the standard infrared remote controller. Both the Mi Box devices measure 95 x 95 x 16 mm and weigh 145 grams.

While both the STBs support DTS- HD audio decoding, only the Mi Box 4 support Dolby Digital Plus. On the connectivity front, the Mi Box 4 and Mi Box 4C includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, HDMI 2.0a port, USB 2.0 port, and 3.5mm audio jack. The Mi Box 4 additionally supports Bluetooth 4.1 LE. While the Mi Box 4 comes in White color, the Mi Box 4C will be available in Black color. Currently, the two new Mi Box 4 STBs support only simplified Chinese.

In the coming months, we expect the company to launch these two new Mi Box devices in the international market with Android TV support. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
