Xiaomi Announces Mi Box S 4K HDR Android TV STB with Google Assistant Remote

Xiaomi has announced its new Mi Mix S which will be the successor of the Mi Box that was announced in 2016. This latest offering from the company is the 4K box that is powered by Android TV. The device runs Android TV 8.1 that comes with voice remote with along with shortcut buttons like, app shortcut, Netflix shortcut, Assistant button, support for Google Assistant for easy voice search and also has a built-in Chromecast along with 4K HDR support. The Box comes with a powerful processor that lets you play Android games as well which could be downloaded from the Google Play store.

Coming to the specs sheet of the Mi Box S, the device will be coming with Android 8.1 support and will be powered with a Quo-Core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU coupled with Mali 450 GPU. There is a Bluetooth voice remote and as mentioned it also supports Google assistant. It is capable of 60 fps 4K HDR video decoding and has 2GB of DDR3 RAM along with 8GB of flash memory. It comes with Dolby Digital Plus along with DTS surrounding sound to enhance the Television experience.

This latest offering from Xiaomi measures 95.25 mm x 95.25 mm x 16.7 mm and weighs 147 grams with makes it easier to carry along. There is one HDMI 2.0a port (HDCP 2.2), one USB 2.0 and one audio out. It also supports Bluetooth 4.2 along with Wi-Fi 802.11ac for 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidths. The device is priced at $59.99 (approx Rs. 4,445) and can be pre-ordered from Walmart in the US which will be shipping from next month.
