Vivo V7 Energetic Blue Smartphone Camera Review & Options

The Vivo smartphones will never disappoint a selfie-obsessed person and the new Vivo V7 Energetic Blue is one of the best selfie-centric smartphones under Rs. 20,000 in India. The Vivo V7 comes with similar specifications as seen on the Vivo V7 Plus, but in a smaller form factor. The Vivo V7 Energetic Blue is priced at Rs. 18,990 and is sold via online and offline stores across the country. Talking about the cameras, both the Vivo V7 and V7 Plus features same camera sensors.

There is a 16MP sensor on the rear with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. It slightly protrudes out of the body and there is a metal ring around the lens for protection. However, the USP of the device is its front-facing camera. There is a 24MP single camera on the front for capturing beautiful selfies. While the rear camera is accompanied by a standard LED flash, the front camera comes with a soft flash (a.k.a Moonlight Flash). Both the front and rear cameras can record videos in Full HD resolution.

The device also supports burst mode for capturing continuously up to 20 images. Unless the HDR is turned on, there is almost zero lag while capturing images. Interestingly, the options for slow-motion and time-lapse videos are placed in the photo mode. Vivo is also offering Live Photo feature for capturing a few seconds of video along with the still image. Apart from the virtual shutter button, the users can also use the rear-facing fingerprint scanner as a shutter button.

With the professional mode, the user can manually change the exposure value, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and focus. There is also an Ultra HD option for the rear camera to capture 64MP images. It actually captures multiple images and combines them into one single image. However, the manual options are only limited to photos and not for videos. Additionally, there are several filters for giving a different look to the image. On the extreme left, there is also an option for Panorama.

Talking about the 24MP selfie camera, it comes with Portrait Mode, Live Photos, and HDR. Unlike the Vivo V5 Plus, the new Vivo V7 comes with a single front camera and the company is offering software-based bokeh effect. It works better in outdoor lighting conditions. Vivo is also offering Face Unlock feature using this 24MP front camera. There is also a group selfie feature and as the name suggests, it can capture the whole group in a single selfie.

Coming to the face beauty, both the front and rear camera make use of the face beauty mode only for capturing photos. The all-new Face Beauty 7.0 is mentioned to come with updated algorithms to make the photos look natural and authentic. There are options for changing the buffing, skin tone, and whitening. However, the photos captured in Face Beauty looks softer and brightened. It all depends on their personal taste and I personally like to have a natural look.

The Face Beauty can be enabled for video calls made using the WhatsApp, Messenger, Viber, Line, and BBM. Vivo is also offering gender detection option in the face beauty mode. On the bottom left of the photos, you will see a “Vivo V7 24MP Clearer Selfie” watermark and it can be removed by disabling the “Photo Watermark” option in the camera setting menu. The front camera on the Vivo V7 is one of the best you will find on a smartphone priced under Rs. 20,000.

The photos captured in the outdoor lighting conditions look good and even the portrait mode works better with a single sensor. Coming to the indoor lighting conditions, the photos look softer and are slightly noisy. Unless the HDR mode is turned on, the processing and focusing on this device is super quick. The Vivo V7 should be the go-to smartphone for anyone looking for capturing beautiful selfies.
