Earlier this year, Vivo launched the entry-level Vivo U1 smartphone under the all-new U-series. Now, the company is getting ready to launch this smartphone next month in India. The base model of the Vivo U1 will be priced as low as Rs 6,490. The company is also reportedly working on an Android Go smartphone. However, there isn’t much information available about the Android Go smartphone. Talking about the Vivo U1, the company will be launching the device in two variants in India.
In China, the device came in three storage options – 3GB + 32GB, 3GB + 64GB, and 4GB + 64GB. The Vivo U1 will be competing with the newly launched Realme C2 and Redmi 7 smartphones. The device comes with a 6.2-inch IPS display with HD+ (1520 × 720 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. With the waterdrop notch, the display offers an impressive 88.6% screen-to-body ratio. However, it comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 Mobile Platform.
It was introduced in June 2018 along with the Snapdragon 632 chipset. The 12nm Snapdragon 439 is clocked at 2.0GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. In China, the device came with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. There is also a dedicated MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 256GB. On the rear, the device sports dual camera setup featuring a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture.
For selfies, it offers an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The Vivo U1 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.5 out of the box. It also comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and supports face unlock. The device is backed by a 4,030mAh non-removable battery. While we don’t expect the company to offer fast charging support, at least it should support 10W charging input. It measures 155.11 x 75.09 x 8.28 mm and weighs 163.5 grams.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, USB OTG, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. The Vivo U1 comes with a gradient finish and is available in Starry Night Black, Aurora Red, Aurora Blue. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for the exact launch date of the device.
