Vivo NEX & NEX Flagship Edition Smartphones Go Official, Offers 91.24% Screen-to-Body Ratio

After being in the leaks from the last couple of months, the Vivo NEX was officially listed on Vivo’s official website ahead of the launch. Today, the company has officially unveiled the Vivo NEX smartphone at an event held in China. The device comes in two variants – Snapdragon 710-powered Vivo NEX and Snapdragon 845-powered Vivo NEX Flagship Edition (a.k.a Vivo NEX S). While both the variants come with the same design, only the flagship edition comes with pop-up selfie camera and in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Vivo NEX comes with above mid-range specifications featuring a front-facing fingerprint sensor. On the other hand, the Vivo NEX flagship edition comes with top-notch hardware. On the front, both the devices offer 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display with 19.3:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ (2316 × 1080 pixels) resolution. As the company is teasing from the last couple of weeks, there is no notch to hide on this smartphone. The devices run on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based FunTouch OS 4.0 out of the box.

The flagship edition comes with 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 380 CPU and Adreno 630 GPU. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the base variant comes with the new 10 Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform and includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Talking about the rear cameras, the 12MP + 5MP dual camera setup comes with 1.4μm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, 4-axis OIS, 6P lens, and Sapphire glass lens.

For selfies, there is an 8MP elevating front camera. There is no physical ear-piece on this device, instead, the company has opted for the sound casting technology which makes the whole display reflect the sound. Also, other sensors including proximity sensor are hidden beneath the edge-to-edge display. The flagship edition also comes with CS43199 and SSM6322 dedicated audio chips for offering Hi-Fi audio output. The device comes with in-house Jovi AI assistant and there is also a dedicated button to trigger it.

With all these specifications, the device is backed by a 4,000mAh battery. It measures 162 × 77 × 7.98 mm and weighs The Vivo NEX smartphones will be available in Black and Red color options. Coming to the pricing, the Vivo NEX with 6GB RAM is priced at 3898 Yuan. The Vivo NEX flagship edition with 128GB and 256GB of internal storage is priced at 4498 Yuan and 4998 Yuan respectively.
