Officially Launched
Vivo NEX Dual Screen Edition Goes Official Without Front Camera

At the MWC 2018, Vivo showcased the world’s first full-screen smartphone called Vivo APEX. Later the company launched the retail variant of the Vivo APEX called Vivo NEX. Now, the company is launching yet another variant of the Vivo NEX called Vivo NEX Dual Screen Edition. However, it is completely a new device with several changes in terms of design and hardware. While the Vivo NEX came with the pop-up camera for capturing selfies, the company is completely ditching the secondary camera with the new Vivo NEX Dual Screen Edition.
As the name suggests, this new device comes with the dual displays – one on the front and other to the rear. To make the full use of the dual displays, the company is offering dual display multitasking and using the rear display as gamepad while playing games. For capturing selfies, the user can use the rear cameras along with the secondary display on the rear. The recently launched Nubia X is the first smartphone to ditch front camera in favor of dual displays.
Talking about the new Vivo NEX Dual Screen edition, the device comes with the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 385 CPU and Adreno 630 GPU. The device will be offering 10GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It will be running on the latest Android 9.0 Pie-based FunTouch OS out of the box. The device comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor and also support the TOF 3D Face Access.
The TOF sensor can also be used for FacePay and 3D Face Shaping. It comes with a 6.39-inch primary display with 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution and 5.49-inch secondary display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution. Coming to the triple camera setup, the device comes with a 12MP primary camera with 1/2.56-inch sensor, 4-axis OIS and dual pixel autofocus. There is also a 2MP night vision camera and a TOF 3D camera. All the three cameras are fine-tuned to capture better low-light photos.
While the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge, the dedicated AI button is placed on the left edge. The RGB LED Lunar ring around the camera module also works as a notification LED. The device is backed by a 3,500mAh non-removable battery and also supports fast charging. It comes with the glossy finish body with ripple gradient finish. The Vivo NEX Dual Screen Edition will be available in Polar Blue and Nebula Purple color options.
Coming to the pricing, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition will be costing CNY 4998 (approx USD 725 / INR 52,000) in China. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
