Vivo has grabbed everyone’s attention by announcing the Vivo APEX concept smartphone with the bezel-less display at the MWC 2018. A few days back, we got to know that the company will be launching the retail version of the APEX smartphone in China on June 12th. The device will be officially called as Vivo NEX and might mostly retain the same design as the APEX concept smartphone.
Vivo NEX with True Bezel-less Display Spotted on Posters in China
(May 26th, 2018)
While there are several leaks about the Vivo NEX smartphone, the device is now spotted on the poster in one of the Vivo retail stores in China. The device name is mentioned as Vivo NEX and the tagline reads ‘AI intelligent flagship.’ Let’s wait and see if the company can achieve the mentioned 99% screen-to-body ratio in its first attempt.
While the whole display is not shown in the image, we can at least see the pop-up camera on the top left corner. While there is no visible bezel on the top half of the device, we have to wait for the official details for the exact screen-to-body ratio. While the Vivo APEX came with Snapdragon 660 processor, the upcoming Vivo NEX is rumored to sport flagship Snapdragon 845 processor.
It comes packed with 8GB of RAM and might come with different storage options. The Vivo NEX will be running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based FunTouch OS 4.0 out of the box. Next week, the company will be launching the Vivo X21 smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor in India.
Vivo Nex to Come in Two Variants Powered by Snapdragon 660 & 845 Processors
(May 28th, 2018)
The retail version of the Vivo APEX concept smartphone will be launching next month in China as Vivo NEX. While the APEX was showcased with the Snapdragon 660 processor, the recent leaks suggest the Vivo NEX to come with Snapdragon 845 processor. Now, the latest news from China suggests the company to actually launch the Vivo NEX in two different variants.
While the base variant is said to come powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor, the high-end variant will come with the Snapdragon 845 processor. Interestingly, the Snapdragon 660-powered Vivo NEX will be featuring the front-facing camera in the lower right corner. The front camera on the Xiaomi Mi MIX smartphones is also placed in the same position. It packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage.
Coming to the Snapdragon 845-powered Vivo NEX, the company will be offering the pop-up camera as showcased at the MWC 2018. Even the RAM and internal storage will be increased to 8GB and 256GB respectively. Based on the rumors, the variant with Snapdragon 660 processor will be priced at 3798 Yuan (approx $595 / Rs 40,000). The high-end variant with Snapdragon 845 is said to come with a price tag of 4999 Yuan (approx $780 / Rs 53,000).
(Update: The lite version of Vivo NEX to come with Snapdragon 710 and not Snapdragon 660.)
