This is the month of Marshmallow updates, Samsung and HTC have been rolling out updates so far to their devices, not just the flagships, even the two-year-old HTC Desire 816 Dual SIM also got Marshmallow love. Now it’s time for the LG devices, Verizon, the Telecom giant of the United States has started to roll out Marshmallow update starting from today. The company says on their support page that, LG V10 smartphone on their network is receiving the over-the-air update for Android 6.0.
The firmware version on V10 should be updated to VS99022A since it is a gradual upgrade, not all devices would be getting the popup notification for this OTA update. It might take couple days of a week or two before it reaches to every device. The company hasn’t mentioned the size of the upgrade, but since it won’t be stock Android, you should expect a gigabyte size, at least. Be prepared for a downtime once you get this update notification.
The good news is that, unlike other competitors, Verizon, allows you to download the update over the mobile network, considering you have enough data left on your plan for the month. But in the released statement, the company has mentioned that the connection should be strong when you’re downloading the update. Otherwise, it’s recommended to update over Wi-Fi network.
As far as the change-log is concerned, the company hasn’t specified anything about it. But you can expect a list of changes like UI improvements, App Permissions, Now on Tap, New Settings control and more. Note if you’re keen to get this update, and this waiting game is not your thing, then you can check manually whether or not your device has gone the update or not. To do so, head over to the Settings> About device> Software update menu and tap on the manual update button.
