UMI is another Chinese brand that has been known for their low-cost smartphones. The company’s portfolio includes some popular devices like UMI Hammer, UMI Zero, UMI Iron, and UMI eMax that are launched with MediaTek processors. The company has announced a new smartphone ‘UMI eMax Mini’ with 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor. This the first smartphone from the company to feature a Snapdragon processor.
The company said that 90% of their fans have voted for Snapdragon when asked to choose the processor on their UMI smartphone. After a lot of discussions, we choose to launch the next smartphone eMax Mini with Snapdragon processor. Though it was rumored that UMI eMax Mini will be powered by Snapdragon 810 processor, with such a low pricing the device comes with Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor.
The device will be of 5-inch screen size with a Full HD (1920×1080) display while the eMax sports a 5.5-inch display with the same resolution. Coming to the battery, it has a smaller 3,050mAh capacity than the 3,780mAh battery on the eMax.
The eMax is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MTK6752 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There is 13MP rear camera on the back with LED flash and an 8MP front camera.
Even with a smaller screen size on eMax Mini, we expect the device to offer almost same specifications of the eMax. As per the company, the eMax Mini will also be as slim as original eMax that was just 7.9mm thickness. Today we have received the official pricing for the device as $139.99. With such a low pricing, UMI’s first Snapdragon powered will be one of cheapest smartphone to equip Snapdragon 615 processor.
Earlier we have tested the UMI Hammer, which was tagged as the world’s toughest smartphone by the company. The device is priced at Rs.10,999 and comes with a 5-inch HD (1280×720) display with a pixel density of 294ppi. It is powered by a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6732 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Even we have tested the device with an extreme durability test where the Aluminium alloy frame around the device and dual Corning Glasses protected the device up to the maximum level.
