Tencent Testing 6 Hour Daily Play Limit for PUBG Mobile in India

Fortnite and PUBG are the two most popular battle royale games across the world. Both the Fortnite and PUBG have mobile versions for Android and iOS. Coming to the Indian market, the PUBG Mobile is immensely popular across the length and breadth of the country. While smartphone gamers are spending more and more time playing PUBG, the western Indian state of Gujarat has banned the game in the primary games.

The police also made more than a dozen arrests for violating the ban. Tencent, the developer of PUBG Mobile, has already issued a statement saying they will add new features to make better phone-life balance. Now, the new update is said to have added a 6 hour daily limit for playing PUBG Mobile in India. However, the changelog for the latest update hasn’t mentioned about this feature.

We have a similar feature in Android and iOS, where we can manually restrict the game after playing for a certain time. Its good to see the developer of the game adding it as a built-in feature. The daily time limit of 6 hours will reset at 5:30 am every day. It also comes with an age verification pop-up asking users if they are over the age of 18 or not. We don’t think these rules will apply for PC and console versions of the game. However, we can only confirm once the company comes out with an official statement.

After the smartphones and 4G data became more accessible in the country, we are seeing users spending most of their time on smartphones. Other battle royale games like Fortnite and Apex Legends haven’t faced any issues in India. Apex Legends is rumored to come out with the mobile version by the end of this year.
