Spice has silently launched a budget friendly smartphone that is coming up with quite a decent specification. The Spice Proton is exclusively available to purchase on the HomeShop 18 for Rs 5999. The budget-friendly smartphone segment in India has seen a lot of trends like offering cheapest 4G LTE enabled devices.
Now with Spice Proton, the company is looking to establish another trend; offering 13-megapixel camera module. While it might not be a new thing but this handset certainly makes it work because of the decent overall specification. Unless you are worried about the battery life on your device because this device has a 2000mAh battery. So, purchasing it might not be a good idea if you are looking for amazing battery life.
The device sports a 5-inch 720p display, which make its pixel density around 294 PPI (Pixel Per Inch) and that is as best you can ask for a device priced in the budget range. It is also protected by a DragonTrail Glass. Powered by a Quad-core (unknown) processor clocking at 1.3GHz, it is coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. You can expand the storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
Running on the latest Android Version of Lollipop, 5.1 and possibly the stock UI, the interface on Spice Proton would be a smooth experience. In terms of the camera department, you see 13-megapixel image sensor, which might turn out to be average. But again, we don’t judge cameras by just there megapixels. But this certainly is one of the cheapest 13MP camera phones in the market right now. There is a 5-megapixel image sensor present on the front for selfie lovers.
The connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and microUSB. Unfortunately, there is no 4G LTE network support on this handset, which can be a big drawback to its sale because these days consumers are looking to buy a 4G LTE enabled smartphone. All this is powered by a 2000mAh battery, which according to the company should give four hours of talk time and eight days of standby time.
