As expected earlier, Sony has unveiled the Xperia Z5 Compact along with Xperia Z5 at IFA 2015. There is also a premium device called Xperia Z5 Premium with 4k display announced this time. Apart from the compact size there are few other compromises in the specifications.
It comes with a 4.6-inch HD (1280×720) display while the Z5 has a Full HD display and Z5 Premium has the world’s first 4K display. It comes powered by the same 64-bit Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 4.3 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
The device comes with 32GB of internal storage and also includes a microSD card slot for storage expansion upto 200GB. It comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop based Xperia UI out-of-the-box. The device is waterproof and dust tight with the IP65 and IP68 certification.Talking about the camera, it has the same 23MP rear camera with Exmor RS sensor that can autofocus in just 0.03 seconds and gives 5X Clear Image Zoom without losing the quality. The device also a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies.
There is a battery of 2,700mAh on this device, which according to the company will last up to 2 days of usage. The device measures 127 x 65 x 8.9 mm and weighs 138 grams. It has a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button the right side of the device.
Connectivity on this device includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, GPA/A-GPS, and microUSB 2.0. Unlike Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium, this device will only available in Single SIM variant. The device will be available in the colors – Graphite Black, White, Yellow, Coral. It will be available globally starting from October 2015.
