In the last month, there has been an announcement from Sony regarding the ‘Xperia Beta Program’, through which the registered Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 Compact users will get a pre-released version of an Android Marshmallow update. Through this beta program, Sony wants to test the latest Marshmallow version before the official release.
‘Xperia Beta Program’ and ‘Concept For Android’ are not the same as beta program is a pre-release software where as the concept for android is an experimental consumer driven software. Lets talk on what the users are going to see in the Marshmallow Beta update for the Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 compact devices that’s going to specifically be made available in Spain, Italy and Netherlands.
With the latest beta update, the devices get updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with 23.5.A.0.486 version. Recently we have seen an official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Xperia Z3+ and Z5 series which fixed the patches of February 2016. Now, the beta version will upgrade the device to Android 6.0.1 version, i.e., the Xperia Z3, Z3 and Z3 Compact users are now experiencing the higher version than the Xperia Z3+ and Z5 series users. But, the beta update has the security fixes of December 2015 and not the latest.
What’s new in Marshmallow Beta Update?
Lets dive into the complete list of the few new features that are spotted.
- The beta update has improved the interface of the camera and so the Xperia Z2 and Z3 users received new camera 2.0.0 interface just like in Z5 series smartphones. With this, the users can navigate using swipe between the camera modes (Video or Manual). Also, sliders are enabled using which the user can adjust the camera settings like brightness, contrast and more.
- Home launcher has been included in the beta release where the users can search the app tray easily.
- The home screen layout options and STAMINA mode were removed in this latest update.
As per the Sony, they have done a limited work on the beta release due to less time and they are looking forward to bring huge changes in the concept marshmallow software. Anyhow, the users who have registered for the Xperia Beta program might be happy as they have started to experience a smooth functioning of the update though there’s still a wait for the official release of the Marshmallow update.
