Sony Xperia Z2 Complete Battery Review – Test Scores & Final Rating
Sony Xperia Z2, the flagship device of the company for the year 2014 is a monstrous device that was announced earlier in the month of February 2014 and was made available from April. This device is the successor of the Xperia Z1 that made a buzz in the market, as it was a water resistant device with IP58 certification (Dust proof and water resistant) and has a 20.7 MP camera. Even the Xperia Z2 is IP58 certified as its successor and has the same camera in the back.
The Sony Xperia Z2 runs the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with four cores clocking at 2.3 GHz accompanied with 3 GB of RAM and Adreno 330 Graphics processing unit. These are some powerful specifications that will be consuming more battery that is a 3200 mAh Li-ion battery (non-removable).
We did a detailed battery test on this device and checked out the performance of the same.

Note – These tests are done with the maximum volume, brightness levels-medium, no-SIM card and few applications running in the background. Moreover there might be a few minute changes in the results that you get with your device and we are not responsible for the difference in results.
Music Playback
We had played some music for 30 minutes on the Xperia Z2 and found out that the battery consumed here was 4 % that will make the battery to last for 12.5 hours for continuous playback of music. While conducting this test, the Xperia Z2 was not having any SIM in it and even the Wi-Fi was turned off, with few applications running on the back ground.

Video Playback
The video playback test on the Xperia Z2 is done with two different video qualities, one being a 720p (HD) and another was 1080p (FHD). Below table gives the results of the same.

When the battery on the Xperia Z2 was 100% we started watching a 720p (HD) video with Wi-Fi connectivity off, and the Bluetooth was on. After 30 minutes, we found that the battery was down to 94 %. The bratty dissipated was 12 % per hour and that clearly indicates that the battery will die after 8.33 hours of continuous FHD video playback. At this rate you can watch 3-4 movies on a single charge depending on the length of the Movie.

The Battery went down to 93 % after 30 minutes of continuous FHD (1080p) video playback, making the battery to last for 7.14 hours.

Browsing
After browsing continuously of a period of 30 minutes, we found that the battery consumed was 4 % as it was on 96 % when we ended the test and is similar to the audio playback results that will kill the battery in 12.5 hours of continuous browsing.

Gaming
Gaming is always being the favorite part of test and after 30 minutes of continuous fun on games, the battery drained here was 13 % that will be making the battery die in little less than 4 hours. While gaming test I also found that the device was getting heated up and was making it uncomfortable to hold the device.

Normal Usage
In this test, we had few back ground applications running and a random notification. We found that the device used 2 % of battery in 30 minutes, and at this rate it will be using just 4 % of battery in an hour. With the normal usage the devices can be used for 25 hours, making it to last for the entire day with single charge. Moreover that we had the Wi-Fi switched on while this test was running with few updates going on.

Conclusion
Even after being one of the powerful devices in the market, the battery life is good enough on the Xperia Z2 and moreover it is a flagship device also. Taking an average of all the tests performed we get an overall rating of 3.8 for Xperia Z2.
