Sony has silently unveiled the next E series smartphone, spotted on company’s developer website, where both, the E4 and the E4 Dual (Dual-SIM variant) were seen with all the specs listed. The model numbers are E2003 and E2033, thus some recent leaks about other models like E2105 were not about the E4.
The E4 comes with a 5-inch display with qHD resolution (960 x 540 pixels), and there is a quad-core processor along with 1GB RAM internally. While the chipset wasn’t mentioned, the cores clock at 1.3 GHz, and according to GSMArena, it is Mediatek MT6582 processor and Mali 400MP GPU unlike Adreno 330 mentioned in the website.
The phones would come with 8GB internal storage and a MicroSD card support, for up to 32GB. Data network connectivity is limited to 3G, while the other options include Wi-Fi, aGPS, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB 2.0.
The Xperia E4 has a 5-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, while the front 2-megapixel camera can take 720p videos. Image stabiliser is mentioned in the specs list, but we aren’t sure if Sony is going to put in some hardware support for image stabilization. There is 4x digital zoom possible as well, with the rear camera.
Interestingly, although the page says Android 5.0 Lollipop, a promo video says Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but we might be seeing Lollipop during the actual launch. Sony has always been doing good on sound output, and the E4 as well comes with Sony 3D Surround Sound technology, xLoud experience as well as Clear Audio+ software for sound improvement. The phone will also have FM Radio with RDS.
The battery packed into the Xperia E4, is a 2300 mAh one. Sony claims that it will be able to give a talktime of about 12 hours 43 min on single SIM unit. We’ll be able to update more when Sony officially says a word about the launch and pricing.
