The electric skateboard market is booming and we are seeing many startups bringing innovative new features. While we rarely see someone using a skateboard in India, they are now even used as an alternative transportation in the Western countries. The China-based Xiaomi has launched quite a few products which are nowhere related to its major vertical specialization areas i.e. smartphones. Now, the company’s crowdfunding platform has listed a new smart electric skateboard.
The Acton smart electric skateboard is priced at 999 Yuan (approx $155 / Rs 10,500) and the company is offering personal accident insurance. According to the listing, the skateboard uses aviation-grade aluminum alloy and imported Canadian maple wood. The Acton smart electric skateboard measures 70 x 20 x 13.5 cm. While it weighs only 5 kg, it can bear weight up to 100 kg. The skateboard comes equipped with 10 Samsung 18650 batteries that can be charged from 0% to 100 % in 90 minutes.
Once fully charged, it can give up to 12km of range. The 500W brushless DC hub motor offers a top speed of 22.5km/h and can run up to 15% hill grade. It also got a 4-sided LED lights for the better visibility of the road. The package includes a wireless remote controller that can be used for acceleration and braking with precision. It also has a LED light to indicate the battery status. The company also says the Acton smart electric skateboard is easy to learn and can be mastered with a little practice.
The built-in electromagnetic brakes also help in steadily decreasing the speeds. Since it is a smart skateboard, it also got a mobile app to give even more controls. The user can get to know the remaining power of the skateboard or change the usage mode. Just like many other products listed on Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform, it might also be exclusive to the Chinese market. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for know more about the upcoming Xiaomi products.
