Sharp Z3 with 5.7″ 2K Display & 16MP OIS Camera Launched in Taiwan

Apart from the displays, we don’t see Sharp smartphones here in India. The Sharp smartphones are mostly limited to few Asian countries including China, Taiwan, and Japan. However, the company sells its Aquos smartphones in few Western countries. Now, Sharp has launched a new flagship smartphone called Sharp Z3 as the successor to last year’s Sharp Z2. The device was launched in Taiwan for NT$ 13,990 (approx US$ 460 / Rs. 30,000) and will be on sale starting from April 15th. Last year, we have seen a small sized robot smartphone called RoboHon from Sharp that works as a regular robot and includes smartphone features.
Talking about the Sharp Z3, it comes with an unibody metal built design and the curved antenna bands on the top and bottom edges. It features a 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection on top. According to the company, the display of the Sharp Z3 offers 520 nits of brightness. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 510 GPU and 4GB of RAM. There is 64GB of onboard storage that can be expandable up to additional 128GB using the MicroSD card slot.
Below the display, we can find a thin physical home button that also includes a fingerprint sensor. It sports a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and OIS; whereas the front facing 13MP selfie camera comes with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, and 80.7-degree wide-angle lens. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, 3.5mm Audio port, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It is backed by a 3,100mAh non-removable battery that also supports fast charging with the 5V/2A power adapter. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the customized skin laid on top.
The Sharp Z3 offers dual SIM dual standby support, but only one SIM connects to the 4G network. It also packs a bunch of sensors including an electronic compass, gyroscope, accelerometers, proximity, and ambient light sensor. Interestingly, the SIM card slots are placed on the right edge, while the volume rocker and power button are on the left edge. It measures 157.9 x 78.5 x 7.78 mm and weighs 185 grams. With the built-in amplifier, the device offers 24-bit Hi-Fi audio output. The device will be available only in Champagne Gold color. Apart from Taiwan, we also expect the company to launch the Sharp Z3 in China in the coming weeks.
