Officially Launched
Micromax Launches Evok Power & Evok Note Smartphones Priced at Rs. 6,999 & Rs. 9,499 Respectively

The Micromax’s latest smartphones, Evok Note & Evok Power are now officially launched in India for Rs. 6,999 & Rs. 9,499 respectively. Both these devices are sold exclusively through Flipkart and come only in Gold color. On paper, the devices pack decent specifications which are on par with other smartphones in their respective price segments. However, the real world usage of these devices might be as good as the other devices. Looking at the company’s past, we can’t even expect these devices to receive software updates. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers VoLTE connectivity for using with the Jio 4G SIM.
Earlier: Micromax has recently launched the premium smartphone called Micromax Dual 5 for Rs. 24,999. Instead of spending on R&D and creating a new product, the company just became the reseller of the 360 Q5 launched by the Chinese company Qihoo 360. Apart from the Change of name of the device and brand, there are no other differences between the Micromax Dual 5 and 360 Q5, not even the UI of the device. The sale of the Rs. 24,999 priced Dual 5 smartphone starts today via Flipkart and the Micromax stores. Today, the company also announced two new budget-centric smartphones called Micromax Evok Note and Evok Power.
The company will be selling these two Evok smartphones exclusively through Flipkart. The pricing and the availability of these devices will be announced on April 12th. With the Evok series, the company is trying to compete with the Chinese brands over the budget mid-range devices. Recently, the company also announced the new Bharat series to offer VoLTE feature phones and smartphones under Rs. 5,000 price range. The Bharat 2 is the affordable VoLTE smartphone priced at just Rs. 2,999. Now, the Evok Note and Evok Power smartphones come with a unibody metal design and support 4G VoLTE.
Micromax Evok Power
The Evok Power comes with a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It comes with on-screen navigation buttons and has thick bezels all around the display. The device includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. In the camera department, there is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. The USP of the device is its mammoth 4,000mAh battery that is rated to give 30 hours of talk time. There is also a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear of this device. If you are looking a decent entry-level smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A priced at just Rs. 5,999 is one good option, but it lacks fingerprint sensor.
Micromax Evok Note
Unlike the Evok Power, the Evok Note comes with slightly better specifications. It sports a bigger 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution and comes protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is backed by a MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and comes coupled with Mali T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM. There is also 32GB of onboard storage that can be further expanded using the hybrid slot. As seen on the Evok Power, the Evok Note also comes with a larger 4,000mAh battery. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with bloatware apps. The Evok Note also packs a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. It also sports a physical home button that comes integrated with a fingerprint sensor.
With the Evok series, the company plans to compete with the affordable smartphones from the Chinese brands. Share your opinion about these two devices in the comments section below.
