Samsung Launches Gear S3 Classic & Gear S3 Frontier Smartwatch in India at Rs 28,500

We told you earlier that Samsung is going to launch the Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier smartwatches in India in January 2017. Today at an event in New Delhi, Samsung launched both smartwatches in India. Gear S3 priced at INR 28,500 and will be available from 18 January. Both smartwatches launched at last year’s IFA event in Berlin with Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. The new smartwatches are the successor of company’s Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic models. Just like its predecessor, Gear S3 also comes with rotatable bezel placed on the top. Gear S3 already available in western markets.

The main difference between Classic and Frontier model of Gear S3 is their connectivity options. The Gear S3 Frontier comes with 4G capability while on the other hand, Gear S3 Classic comes with Bluetooth connectivity. The classic version of Gear S3 is five grams lighter as well. They have features like the barometer, Altimeter, Speedometer, always on display and a battery that can last for four days. The Gear S3 can also survive in 5-feet deep water for around 30 minutes. It can track six type of exercises and sync it with S Health app.

Talking about the specifications of the Gear S3, it comes with a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display on top with 360 x 360-pixel resolution. The screen of the watch has the pixel density of 278ppi. The display is Corning Gorilla Glass SR+. The Gear S3 smartwatch powered by 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos processor out of the box. It runs on Samsung’s Tizen-based wearable platform rather than Android Wear. The new smartwatch is priced at Rs 28,500 and will be available from 18th January onwards in the country.

The Gear S3 can be used to take and make calls, check voice messages and hear alarms with built-in speakers in it. It also supports Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communications (NFC) payment technologies and comes with Samsung Pay. The smartwatch comes with 4GB internal storage and can be used to stream music to Bluetooth headset. It has the Gear app store where one can download apps. According to Samsung, the Gear app store has over 10,000 apps like Uber, Spotify, Goal+, Yelp, Here, Glympse etc.
