Samsung Gear S2

Samsung is about to announce its most recent smartwatch, the Gear S2, in India, which was launched at the IFA Expo last year in Berlin. The Tizen OS powered smartwatch was launched in Europe first, which later saw the availability in the United States. Now the company is planning to bring the stylish watch to the Indian audience. The smartwatch is expected to be launched this month in the country.

There first Gear S Smartwatch was also launched in the country a just couple of months after its revelation at IFA 2014. And it was quite heavy duty pricing at Rs 27,900 at the launch time. Now I reckon the price would have come down, but this suggests that the new S2 would be priced hefty as well. It is not the only thing coming on that day as per our sources. You would be seeing the official launch of Gear VR in the country as well.

The Virtual Reality headset that was launched in the year of 2014, the same year when the Gear S watch unveiled, powered by the Oculus VR Technology. It was considered as the stepping stone for finally introducing a technology that is much enthusiasm by the consumers. The VR headset was priced quite steep at $199, as these days, the Advanced VR is now becoming an affordable technology.

To jog up your memory, the LeTV’s (Now Rebranded as LeEco) LeVR Cool1 is one of the interesting virtual reality headsets to come up with the affordable pricing of just $23. We played out with the headset at their Le Preview event earlier this month and were quite blown away with the quality it showcased for the pricing. It’s like a premium Google Cardboard if you know what I mean by it.

Talking about the Gear S2, it is not sure whether the two variants would be coming to India or only one. The S2 Class is the premium one, which features a black finish with a matching leather band, directly aimed to taken on the competition like LG Watch Urbane, which was launched in India for Rs 30K. If company priced at substantially lesser, then we may have a winner here. The Indian consumers have a hard time spending the hefty amount for these heavy duty smartwatches, but that is expected to change as the wearable market grows in the country.

Whereas, on the other hand, the Samsung Gear VR has not much competition as the product category is almost nil. The specifics of the Gear VR includes a dual lenses in the front that is set provide the 3D Effect. And note that this virtual reality headset can only be used if you have a Samsung Galaxy handset, most probably it would work only with the likes of Note 4, Note 5, S6 Edge Plus and couple others. With Bluetooth gaming controller, the Gear VR can offer the ultimate gaming experience to the Samsung Galaxy users. The pricing for both of these devices are unknown for now, but we expect Gear S2 to be priced around Rs 25000 and Gear VR around Rs 10000.
