Last year, Samsung launched quite a few smartphones under the Galaxy J series. Now, the company is working on the 2017 iterations of the Galaxy J series. The Galaxy J7 2017 with the model number SM-727VL is now listed on GFXbbench revealing the key specifications. Earlier to this, the same device with the model number SM-J727P is spotted on Geekbench. The Galaxy J7 2017 will be the successor to the last year’s Galaxy J7 2016 and features few similar specifications. We expect the company to continue with the plastic body for its J-series devices. Talking about the device with the model number SM-727VL, it runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

The other variant with the model number SM-J727A is mentioned to come with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. It comes with a 5.5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, and we might see the company using the Super AMOLED panel as it successor. While one variant will be powered by Snapdragon octa-core processor, the other variant will be using the Samsung’s in-house Exynos processor. It packs 2GB of RAM that might handle most of the apps but not the perfect multitasking. With the Android 7.0 Nougat, the user can use two apps side-by-side. The device comes with 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded using a MicroSD card.

Talking about the cameras, the Galaxy J7 2017 comes with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. Both these cameras can record videos at Full HD resolution. For comparison, the Galaxy J7 2016 came with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE for making HD voice calls and accessing voice calls. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5 mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It also packs a bunch of sensors like accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, and proximity. As of now, there is no official information about the launch of these devices. A couple of weeks back, the company also trademarked the Galaxy J7 Sky Pro & Galaxy J3 Luna Pro names in the U.S.

The Galaxy J7 Sky Pro might be the upcoming Galaxy J7 2017. With the Android 7.0 Nougat, the devices come with new animations. There is also a built-in Data Saver, though Samsung offers the Ultra Data Saving mode (UDS) on their budget smartphones. The bundled notifications and the quick app switching are few new features of Android Nougat. However, the UI might make a bid difference as the Samsung smartphones come with the in-house TouchWiz UI laid on top. At the upcoming MWC 2017 event, the company will be unveiling the Galaxy Tab S3 with S Pen support. While there are very little chances, we might be seeing few affordable smartphones launching during the event. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
