Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 Flip Phone with 3.8” Screen & 2GB RAM Launched in South Korea

A few months after making the Galaxy Folder 2 Flip phone official in China, the company has finally decided to launch the device in South Korea. Yes, the company has now unveiled the international variant of the Galaxy Folder 2 in its home country. The device is priced at 297,000 won which roughly translates to about 17,000 INR. It will be sold in two color options in South Korea i.e the black and burgundy and two variants will be available i.e LTE and 3G. As of now, we don’t know if this will be launched anywhere else, however, we suggest you stay tuned for more info on this.
Earlier – After all the leaks and rumors the Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 finally goes official. This device from the South Korean Giant is now listed on the Samsung China website where it will be launched initially. Although the pricing and launch date of the device is not yet confirmed, we can expect it to happen soon.
The Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 features a 3.8-inch WVGA display and there is a quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset with a clocking speed of 1.4GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM. The device will feature a 1950 mAh battery that is rated at 318 hours of standby, and the device measures 122 x 60.2 x 15.4mm and weights 160 grams.
Out of the box, the device will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system and the onboard memory of Galaxy Folder 2 is 16GB that can be extended with a microSD card. At the back there is an 8MP camera sensor with LED flash and the handset will support dual SIM technology and also comes with many pre-installed apps.

Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 is the name that has been circulating for quite a time now which will be the successor to the Galaxy Folder that was launched last year. The device has cleared the FCC and TENNA certification and also received the Bluetooth certification. Even we have seen the teaser images which is indicating the launch to happen soon. The South Korean Giant has already pushed the flip phone models earlier which did not see much of success and will be hoping to see a good response with this device.
Now the device is spotted in live images that come in Gold colour. The hinge on the top comes with the Samsung logo engraved on it. The LED notification light is placed at the bottom of the device which is glowing in the image as the device is getting charged. The leaked image shows a slim body with a physical keypad and will also have a touch screen display. We can see the Golden variant of the device in the image, although we are not sure if another variant will be made available or not. Earlier we have seen the company launching other high-end clamshell phone Samsung W2016 with dual display and metallic body.
Coming to the specifications of the Galaxy Folder 2, it will be sporting a 3.8-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels which might not impress many. Under the hood, there is a Snapdragon 425 SoC quad-core processor with a clocking speed of 1.4 GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM. The handset will come with an 8MP camera sensor on the rear which is accompanied with 5MP camera on the front.
The Galaxy Folder 2 will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and will have a 1,950mAh battery on the back. The memory on the device can be extended up to a maximum of 16GB via microSD card slot and will be measuring 122 x 60.2 x 15.5 mm that will weigh 155 grams. Other information of the device is not yet mentioned but can expect it to be revealed very soon.
Code named as SM-G1600 the Galaxy Folder 2 will be coming with 4G LTE support and most likely to offer dual SIM support. On the connectivity front, we can see the support of Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB, WiFi b/g/n and WiFi direct. It will be interesting to see how this flip phone will be received in the market with this old form factor.
