Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Starts Receiving Android Pie-based OneUI Update

Late last year, Samsung had launched its higher mid-range smartphone the Galaxy A8 Star in India priced at Rs 34,990. It came with 6.28-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC powered the device. The mid-range smartphone from Samsung was further shipped with Android 8 Oreo with Samsung Experience running on top of it. The same device was earlier launched as the Galaxy A9 Star in Chinese markets for which the Android Pie update is rolling out now.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy A9 Star has started receiving Android Pie based OneUI firmware update in the Chinese market and further suggesting us that the Galaxy A8 Star Indian units might also get the Android Pie update sometime soon. The report indicates the new Android Pie based firmware roll out comes with a G8850ZCU3BSEC version number, which is also said to be including Android’s latest May security patch as well. Since this is happens to be staged rollout, the Galaxy A8 Star devices will get the new firmware update based on their region, which also includes India.

As for the new firmware update, we all know Samsung had unveiled its new OneUI last year, which is Android 9.0 Pie based, and was first witnessed on this year’s Galaxy S10 line-up and thereafter other Galaxy devices have also started receiving this update. The Android Pie based OneUI brings several noticeable changes to the Galaxy A9 Star and to the dubbed A8 Star device too, which include overhauled user-interface, New system-wide Night Mode, Intuitive Gesture navigations across the UI and several other system enhancements including battery improvements as well.

And, lastly, the Galaxy A9 Star users and the Galaxy A8 Star users should be receiving this update based on their regions, as stated earlier. Meanwhile, users can navigate through Settings on their devices and check in the software update section to check and download the update manually.
