Samsung has been offering the high-end specifications and superior build quality with their Galaxy A devices. With the 2017 Galaxy A devices, the company opted for the glass back design instead of the metal unibody design. However, Samsung had skipped launching the Galaxy A8 smartphone in 2017. It’s making a comeback in 2018 in not one, but two variants – Galaxy A8 (2018) & Galaxy A8+ (2018).
Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) & Galaxy A8+ (2018) Officially Announced

Today, the company has officially unveiled these two new smartphones in Europe. The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) are priced at €499 (approx $588 / Rs. 37,700) and €599 (approx $700 / Rs. 45,000) respectively. Both these devices will be available in Black, Orchid Grey, Gold, and Blue color options. As of now, there is no information about the pricing of these devices in the other markets. The Galaxy A8 (2018) smartphones will go on sale starting January 2018.
Both these devices will be first from Samsung to feature dual front cameras. On the front, the devices come with Infinity Display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution. While the Galaxy A8 (2018) sports 5.6-inch Super AMOLED display, the Galaxy A8+ (2018) comes with 6-inch Super AMOLED display. Under the hood, the devices come powered by 64-bit Exynos 7885 octa-core processor coupled with Mali-G71 GPU. The Galaxy A8 (2018) comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage.
On the other hand, the Galaxy A8+ (2018) will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage respectively. Both the smartphones include MicroSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. Talking about the cameras, there is a single 16MP sensor on the rear with f/1.7 aperture and dual LED flash. While on the front is the dual camera setup featuring 16MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and an 8MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture.
The device also the Live Focus feature to adjust the background blur after capturing the image. While the Galaxy Note 8 is the first Samsung smartphone to feature dual camera setup, the Galaxy A8 (2018) smartphones are the first to offer dual selfie cameras. With the IP68 certification, the devices are also water and dust resistant. Both the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with Samsung Experience UI laid on top.
While the Galaxy A8 (2018) is backed by a 3,000mAh battery, the Galaxy A8+ (2018) with a bigger display comes with a bigger 3,500mAh battery. They also support wired fast charging and wireless charging. On the design front, they will be featuring a metal frame with 2.5D curved glass on the front and rear. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear, and it sits below the rear camera sensor. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port.
Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus Launching in India on January 10th

Last month, Samsung has officially unveiled the new Galaxy A8 (2018) & Galaxy A8+ (2018) smartphones. The company hasn’t mentioned the launch date of these two devices in the Indian market. According to our trusted source, the Samsung India will be launching the Galaxy A8+ (2018) in India on January 10th. The pricing and availability of the device will be announced on the day.
As of now, there is no information about the launch of Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) in India. Both the Galaxy A8 (2018) devices are the first from Samsung to feature dual selfie cameras. They also come with Super AMOLED Infinity displays with Full HD+ resolution. However, they still run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.
As we exclusively reported earlier, Samsung India has officially launched the Galaxy A8+ (2018) today in India. It is the company’s latest high-end smartphone to launch in the recent times. The Galaxy A8+ along with Galaxy A8 are first announced in December 2017. These are the first Samsung smartphones to feature Full HD+ Infinity Display. As of now, Samsung India has only launched the Galaxy A8+ in India. It is priced at Rs. 32,990 and will be exclusively sold via Amazon India starting January 20th.
As mentioned above, the device comes with 6-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. There is a 16MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and 16MP + 8MP dual front camera with f/1.9 aperture. It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out fo the box and might soon receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update. With the IP67 certification, the device is also water and dust resistant. It also supports Samsung Pay for making mobile payments.
