Reliance Jio has quietly launched their new JioFi Hotspot device with a larger capacity battery and an OLED display. Surprisingly, it is priced at just Rs 1,999, which is the same price tag of the earlier model named JioFi 2. If you didn’t know, the JioFi 2 was initially launched at Rs 2,899 and later was reduced to Rs 1,999 at the Annual General Meeting announcement earlier this month.

The new Reliance Jio JioFi device appeared online when a Twitter user Raghvendra posted a set of images online. From the images, it can be stated that the new device is quite larger than its predecessor as well as sports a square shape when compared to oval and tiny with the original model. The new JioFi has a sleek matte finish look compared to the glossy front on JioFi 2.

Though, the most significant change is bringing the OLED display. It shows the power ON/OFF, amount of battery life remaining, as well as the Wi-Fi signal strength. The large size of the device is because of the 2600 mAh capacity compared to 2300 mAh on original JioFi. The images also showcase that the new Hotspot device from Jio is “Designed in India” as it is scribed on the back side of the device.

You can also see the retail packing to be quite colourful. The new JioFi device would come in cylindrical packaging while the original model comes in Square box packaging. The new Jio Fi is available for sale through Reliance Digital stores in selected cities initially.

The brand is yet to list the new hotspot on their official website; you would have to wait to find out further details about specifications. It is speculated that the device can simultaneously connect 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices, which is less compared to up to 31 devices. Although, it is recommended to connect up to 10 devices only. The reason maybe slow speed once a lot of devices are connected to one hotspot.

Just like original JioFi, it comes pre-bundled with Jio Welcome Offer, where one can enjoy the unlimited 4G data and voice calls. If you didn’t know, with JioFi, even the non-4G handsets could enjoy rich call experience and faster internet using Jio4GVoice app (formerly JioJoin) via JioFi device.
