Today among smartphone consumers in India, Reliance JIO is a word that resonates with all the 4G smartphone users in the country. The telecom giant was not only able to capture the attention of mobile consumers but also the other telecom players in the country, namely Airtel, Idea and Vodafone.
The new numbers that are coming in from a trusted source states that currently there are more than 6 Million live users on Reliance Jio 4G connection. Additionally, it is noted that there is a fair number of users who are still waiting to get their SIM cards activated because of the surge of people who have applied for JPO.
As Reliance pushed JIO 4G services via Jio Preview Offer that is now extended to more than a dozen smartphone brands as a partner offer. It was quite obvious that people would que up at Reliance Digital stores and Xpress mini stores to get their free SIM card by showing their eligible handsets from the likes of Samsung, LG, ASUS, Gionee, Micromax, YU, etc.
In the wake of this surge, Reliance JIO would stop issuing new SIM cards for next 4-5 days at their official and third-party authorised stores across the country. As the backlog numbers are huge because they need to be authenticated and verified with proper scrutiny. This information comes from authorised Reliance JIO retailers, while it could be possible that you might be able to get SIM cards at some selected stores.
Unconfirmed Reports: The whole reason to stop issuing SIM cards for the small period is because the company is targeting to complete the activation of pending SIM cards before the AGM (Annual General Meeting) on September 1st. Moreover, the telecom firm is expecting to increase the active user up to 10 Million before the investors and shareholders meeting, which would be led by Mukesh Ambani.
It is quoted by our source that company is planning to increase the active users up to 50 million by this year’s end.
