Redmi 7A Announced with 5.45″ HD Display & Snapdragon 439 SoC in China

Xiaomi’s Redmi has been on a spree of launching its smartphones in budget and mid-range segments from the past couple of months. With the recent reports of its new flagship Redmi K20 doing rounds on the internet, the company today has unveiled yet another budget smartphone – the Redmi 7A to the Chinese market.

The successor of the Redmi 6A, which released last year, the Redmi 7a also looks identical but with a more prominent display and comes with noticeable bezels on the front. The Redmi 7A comes with a 5.45-inch IPS LCD HD display that has a resolution of 18:9. Surprisingly, the Redmi branding can be seen on the front instead of the traditional logo on the back. The Redmi 7A is also said to be P2i nano coated, which helps in water splash proof similar to the earlier released Redmi Phones.

Under the hood, the Redmi 7A is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC, unlike the predecessor which relied on a MediaTek Helio A22 SoC. As for the cameras, the Redmi 7A features a 13MP AI-powered rear camera which also supports AI beautification. Up front, the Redmi 7A comes with a 5MP selfie shooter that also has a bunch of AI features including – AI Beauty camera, AI Background Blur and supports AI Face Unlock for authentication.

On the storage front, the Redmi 7A is offered in 2GB RAM and 16GB of onboard storage and 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage options. The Redmi 7A is kept alive by a decent 4000mAh battery, which can further be charged via micro USB. The 7A comes with triple card slot for dual SIMs and an external storage expansion slot for microSD (for up to 256GB).

On the software front, the Redmi 7A comes with a built-in ‘Affection Guardian” feature that allows users to manage the installation and mobile usage times of their children. The feature further will enable you to send alerts to their children to restrict their usage and can also put limits for their access to bad/fishy websites. And, also uses can have location reminders activated with this feature to know the whereabouts of their loved ones.

The pricing of the Redmi 7A will be revealed alongside the launch of the Redmi K20 smartphone on May 28th. The Redmi 7A will be featuring in Matte Black and Morning Blue color variants. Stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more such interesting updates.
