Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS Launched with Leica Triple Cameras & Kirin 970 SoC

Earlier this month, we exclusively reported about the upcoming Huawei smartphone with 6GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Today, the company has officially unveiled the Porsche Design Mate RS with 512GB of onboard storage. The new Porsche Design Mate RS sports the same cameras as seen on the Huawei P20 Pro. It comes with a curved glass on either side of the Aluminum frame.

The device runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.1 out of the box, and the company is offering a custom theme to match the device aesthetics. Unlike the Huawei P20 devices, there is no notch on the Porsche Design Mate RS. It sports a 6-inches FullView OLED display with Quad HD+ (2880 x 1440 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the 10nm Kirin 970 AI chipset with a dedicated NPU and Mali-G72 MP12 GPU.

It offers 6GB of RAM and comes in 256GB and 512GB storage variants. Along with the rear-facing fingerprint sensor, the company is also including the in-screen fingerprint sensor. Vivo has already launched a couple of smartphones with an under-display fingerprint sensor, the Porsche Design Mate RS is the first smartphone to offer dual fingerprint sensors. The Porsche Design Mate RS sports the Leica triple cameras in the center.

There is a primary 40MP RGB sensor along with a 20MP monochrome sensor and an 8MP telephoto sensor. It comes with 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, AI image stabilization (AIS), PDAF, CAF, Laser and Depth autofocus. Along with the 4K video recording, the Porsche Design Mate RS can also record 960 fps super slow motion videos. There is also a 24MP fixed focus camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture.

It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and supports Qi wireless charging and Super Charge fast charging technology.  The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. It measures 152.9 x 72.5 x 8.5 mm and weighs 183 grams. The device is also water and dust resistant, thanks to the IP67 certification.

The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS with 256GB storage is priced at EUR 1695 (approx $2100 / Rs. 1,36,600), and the 512GB storage variant costs EUR 2095 (approx $2600 / Rs. 1,68,800). It comes only in Black color option and will go on sale starting April 12th.
