Polaroid Launches The New Cosmo K and Cosmo K Plus Android Smartphones

Polaroid has now launched two new Android smartphones in the U.S. market called the Cosmo K and the Cosmo K Plus. For those of you wondering, Polaroid is the same company which is quite popularly known for its instant film and cameras. Yes, this might sound a little surprising as to why a camera company is making smartphones, however, this is the not the company’s first smartphone, to begin with. And in fact, even Kodak has launched a smartphone, so it isn’t that surprising as well.

Talking about these new smartphones, the Cosmo K and the Cosmo K Plus, both are a new series which the company is making available in Mexico. Do make a note that both of these smartphones are entry level devices and hence one should not have any huge expectations with these ones in particular. Both the smartphones are powered by MediaTek processors, quad-core processors clocked at 1.3GHz to be more precise.

The Cosmo K packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. On the front, the Cosmo features a 5-inch HD display which means that it has a resolution of 1280 x 720. In terms of the camera, we are looking at a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, whereas on the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone is kept powered by a 2,800 mAh battery and it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, which is again a huge letdown.

And now, talking about the new Cosmo K Plus, it features a larger 5.5-inch display, however, the resolution remains the same, which makes things a bit worse. As mentioned earlier, it is also powered by the same SoC and it is coupled with the same 1GB of RAM and 8GB expandable storage. Surprisingly, the battery is again the same 2,800 mAh which is weird since the Plus variant should ideally have a larger battery as well.

In terms of the cameras, we are again looking at the same setup i.e. a 13MP rear-facing shooter and a 5MP front facing selfie shooter. This is also powered by the same Android 6.0 Marshmallow. So essentially both are same devices with the Cosmo K Plus having a larger display. Now, talking about the pricing and availability, unfortunately, we don’t have any info about the same since the company has not shared anything us on this. However, if you are interested in buying either of these smartphones, then we suggest you stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more details.
