Panasonic has launched a new affordable smartphone Panasonic T50 today in India. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Panasonic customized SAIL UI laid on top. The device is priced at just Rs. 4,990 and comes with basic specifications. Importantly, the device lacks the 4G LTE, which is being offered by most of the recently launched smartphones.
Commenting on the launch, Pankaj Rana, Business Head of Panasonic Mobiles India, said,
“Our latest introduction in the Indian market is a novelty because it arrives with the launch of Panasonic’s in-house software, the SAIL user interface. The UI is even integrated into a specialized SAIL camera. It is an app-driven smartphone which combines 3G connectivity and multi-app smoothness for a flawless user experience in a handheld device.”
Talking about the device, it features a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) IPS display. Under the hood is the unknown Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with 1GB of RAM. There is 8GB of internal storage and also includes a MicroSD card slot that supports upto 32GB. It comes with dual SIM dual standby support and but is limited only to 3G HSPA connectivity.
It has a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 2MP front camera for selfies and video calls. The T50 is kept powered ON by the 1,600mAh battery that might not last for a full day of usage. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures 8.8mm thickness and comes in Midnight Blue, Rose Gold, and Champagne Gold colors.
According to the company, the SAIL UI comes with a ThemeClub that includes complimentary free themes and along with other basic customizations. It also supports Gestures for quick access like Swiping with a finger for taking a screenshot. The InFocus Bingo 21 priced at Rs. 5,499 comes with 4G LTE and offers doubled RAM and better camera.
