OPPO Launches their First 6GB RAM Smartphone R9s Plus & R9s with 16MP Cameras

OPPO is the one of the fastest growing smartphone brand based out of China. In early 2016, the company launched the OPPO R9 and R9 Plus selfie focused smartphones with 16MP selfie cameras in China. Both the devices received a huge popularity among the Chinese users, and the company claims to have sold more than 20 million units of OPPO R9 and R9 Plus smartphones in less than six months after launch. The OPPO R9 was launched in the foreign as OPPO F1 Plus and is said to surpass 7 million sales in the first three months. Today, the company is launching OPPO R9s and R9s Plus smartphones as the successors to OPPO R9 and R9 Plus.
The company is teasing few features from the last few weeks. Both the OPPO R9s and R9s Plus sports a 16MP Sony IMX398 sensor on the front with f/1.7 aperture and 6P lens. The OPPO R9s additionally comes with OIS+ for recording videos without any blur. This new sensor can allow 2X more light and is 40% faster in focusing. On the rear of the devices is another 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens. The OPPO R9s sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display while the OPPO R9s Plus comes with a 6-inch display with the same resolution. Both the devices are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on the top. While the regular antenna on the metal build smartphones comes with 1.5mm to 2mm width, the new OPPO R9s devices come with three Antenna lines with just 0.3mm width.
The OPPO R9s is backed by a 3,010mAh battery while the R9s Plus with a bigger form factor includes a 4,000mAh battery. With the VOOC Flash Charge support, the device can give two hours of talk time with just five minutes of charging. Finally, OPPO has updated the ColorOS 3.0 with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The OPPO R9s is powered by 2.0Ghz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB of RAM. On the other hand, the OPPO R9s Plus comes with Snapdragon 653 octa-core processor clocked at 1.95GHz along with Adreno 510 GPU. The OPPO R9s Plus is also the first OPPO smartphone to feature 6GB of RAM. Both the device are available with 64GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion upto another 128GB.
The devices support dual SIM dual standby with the help of hybrid SIM slot where the user can opt for MicroSD card instead of the secondary SIM. Other connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz and 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, and Micro USB 2.0 port. While the OPPO R9 and R9 Plus are available in the Gold and Rose Gold color options, the new OPPO R9s and R9s Plus will also be available in the Black color. The fingerprint sensor is embedded into the physical home button on the front. Coming to the pricing and availability, the OPPO R9s and R9s Plus are priced at 2799 Yuan (approx $415 / Rs. 27,700) and 3499 Yuan (approx $520 / Rs. 34,700) respectively. The devices are now available for pre-order, and the sales start from October 28th in China.
