Earlier: June 25, 2015, 14:48 : Oppo has been releasing smartphones in the budget range at regular intervals now. Not just with the Neo series, but also with the Joy series, as the Oppo Joy 3 gets announced, with a listing on the company’s official website. There was no Joy 2 in the series, but a Joy Plus device was launched during the beginning of the year.

The Joy 3 carries a metallic looking frame on the side, and Oppo has rarely disappointed with the design of its products. The phone has a 4.5-inch display with FWVGA resolution (480 x 854 pixels) and there is a Mediatek MT6582 (quad-core, 1.3GHz) processor along with Mali-400MP2 GPU and 1GB of RAM. Not really something powerful, but good enough for use as a secondary device.

The Android version it runs is Android 4.4 KitKat, but the interface is company’s latest, the ColorOS 2.0 version. The storage provided is just 4GB, but a MicroSD card slot helps in expanded storage. The device has a 5-megapixel rear and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and the rear one can capture HD videos.

To help take advantage of the cameras, the software has some features such as burst mode for GIF capture, audio photo feature for a 10-second clip by adding audio, images and animations. Other features include Double Exposure, Filters and the Beautify feature for selfies. Oppo uses the Pure Image 2.0+ technology for photo processing in the Joy 3.

This is a Dual SIM device, and while both can have 3G connectivity, only one 3G connection is allowed at a time. The phone also supports USB OTG connectivity options, apart from standard Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It packs a 2000 mAh battery.

While the pricing details are not known yet, the availability will be very soon.
