OPPO will soon launch the OPPO A5s smartphone in the Indian market for Rs 9,990. Also, the company will reportedly launch a new entry-level smartphone called OPPO A1k. The OPPO A1k along with OPPO A5s were recently launched in the Russian market. We expect the OPPO A1k to be priced much lower than the OPPO A5s in India. The device will be coming with a polycarbonate shell with a metallic finish and rounded corners. While the rear of the device looks similar to the OPPO A5s, it only comes with a single rear camera.
It will be available in Black and Red color options. The OPPO A1k sports a 6.1-inch display with HD+ (1560 x 720 pixels) resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. With the waterdrop notch, the device offers 87.43% screen-to-body ratio. Also, the company is providing the Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Considering its a low-cost smartphone, we expect them to use the third-gen Corning Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, it comes powered by 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with ColorOS 5.2 skin on top.
The OPPO A1k packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The company might also launch the device with 3GB of RAM. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and comes with a 5V/2A (10W) power adapter. With these specifications, the device is said to last up to 17 hours of active usage. Talking about the camera, the device will come with a 13MP single rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies. The device also supports dual SIM dual standby along with dual VoLTE.
There is no fingerprint scanner on this device, but it at least comes with face unlock support. While the power button is placed on the right edge, the volume rocker can found on the left edge. Connectivity options include, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and MicroUSB 2.0 port. In India, the device will be competing with the upcoming Redmi 7 and Realme C2 smartphones. Let us know, would you be interested in using an entry-level smartphone from OPPO.
