OnePlus 7 Powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC to Launch on May 14th

As we all are expecting, OnePlus will soon launch the OnePlus 7 smartphone as the successor to the popular OnePlus 6T. It recently started selling the OnePlus 6T at a discounted price in India. However, there is no official confirmation over the OnePlus 7 launch. The company usually launches its new flagship smartphone in the month of May/June. Based on the leaks, the upcoming OnePlus 7 will be making its global debut on May 14th. Looking at the previous launches, the India launch should happen the very next day after the global launch.
While the company launches a single device in different variants, this time, we might actually see two different devices – OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. The leaked images of the device and its cases reveal it to sport pop-up selfie camera. Surprisingly, the company might also bring back the 3.5mm audio jack. In the past, the company ditched the NFC on the OnePlus 2 to only bring it back with the next-gen device. With the pop-up camera, the OnePlus 7 will also offer a true bezel-less display with no notch or punch-hole camera.
OnePlus will continue to use the Optic AMOLED panel with the same Full HD+ resolution. Under the hood, it will come powered by 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform featuring Kryo 485 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU. The Kryo 485 CPU comes with 1x prime core clocked at 2.84GHz, 3x performance cores clocked at 2.42GHz, and 4x efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It will be running on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with OxygenOS 9.0 skin on top. Just like its predecessor, the OnePlus 7 will also come equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Talking about the cameras on the OnePlus 7, we are expecting to see triple camera setup on the rear offering ultra wide-angle-view. The OnePlus 7 should also capture better low-light photos using the nightscape mode than the current OnePlus devices. On the front, it might come with a 32MP sensor as seen on smartphones from other Chinese manufacturers. The ‘Warp Charge 30’ fast charging technology introduced exclusively with the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition should be made as a standard feature with the OnePlus 7 lineup.
The recent leaks also suggest the OnePlus 7 Pro to come with 5G support. With the OnePlus 6T, the company also partnered with a few carriers to sell its smartphones in the US. These partnerships will help the company to compete with the other 5G smartphones like Galaxy S10 5G. As of now, none of these features are officially confirmed. Take these details with a pinch of salt and wait for the leaks from more trusted sources. If the launch is happening on May 14th, the company will start teasing the device very soon.
