Back in September, Carl Pie, the co-founder of OnePlus, confirmed the removal of 3.5mm audio jack with its upcoming OnePus 6T smartphone. Now, the company’s CEO Pete Lau also confirmed the device will lack the wireless charging support and also the IP rating. While most other manufacturers are adding wireless charging support to their flagship devices, OnePlus doesn’t want to consider unless it is as fast as its own Dash Charging tech.
While the Dash Charge offers up to 20W power output, Huawei is rumored to introduce the 15W wireless fast charging with the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones. However, the company is said to be working hard to bring wireless charging support with fast charging and less heat generation. Just like the OnePlus 6, the upcoming OnePlus 6T will also lack IP certification.
OnePlus has advertised OnePlus 6 as water-resistant but never talked about any kind of IP certification. However, the teardown videos revealed the OnePlus 6 to actually include required protection to claim IP67 certification. With the OnePlus 6T, the company might not apply for any IP certifications, but we still think it comes with the same kind of protection as seen on its predecessor.
Just yesterday, the press renders of the OnePlus 6T are leaked online. Just like its predecessor, the OnePlus 6T will also come in Mirror Black and Midnight Black color options. It sports waterdrop screen on the front and comes powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. The Oneplus 6T is expected to be launched on October 17th. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
