OnePlus 5 & 5T Starts Receiving Android 9.0 Pie Beta Update

This is the time of the year when every brand starts pushing its latest updates to supported devices and now OnePlus has begun rolling out its Android Pie Beta for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T smartphones in China. Furthermore, the company uses Hydrogen OS in China which is a bit different from its regular Oxygen OS that is seen globally. Since the Beta has already started rolling out in the country we can expect it to be rolled out globally very soon.

The information has been shared on the OnePlus forum and the size of the download is little over 2GB and so it is suggested to the users to download the update over the WI-Fi instead of using mobile data which can incur more charges. Earlier, in the month of August, we have seen Hydrogen OS 9.0 beta rolling out for OnePlus 6 and the Oxygen OS beta after few days. Even the stable Oxygen OS 9.0 was rolled out after a month from the first Hydrogen OS beta rolled out.

Recently, the CEO of OnePlus – Pete Lau said that it was taking longer time for the Android Pie update to hit the OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones and was expected to be rolled out before the year ends. Since the beta update has started rolling out the stable version should be getting ready soon after if there aren’t many bugs in it. Since the OnePlus 6 got the features like gesture navigation and also an upgrade in the do not disturb mode along with new gaming mode we can expect similar changelogs on the OnePlus 5 and 5T although the full-screen gestures might just not reach the OnePlus 5.

If you have not received the update, you have to go to the setting so the handset and head to system updates from about phone section. If you find the file there, you can download it and then install. Make sure the handset has enough charge on it and backup all the data. Comment in the section below if you any queries on the same and stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more news and updates.
