Nubia has already confirmed to launch the latest Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone next week in China. Today, the company unveiled its first-ever 5G smartphone called Nubia Mini 5G. The Nubia Mini 5G looks exactly same as the Nubia Z18 Mini launched in April 2018. Both the devices also share a few similar specifications. However, the Nubia Mini 5G comes powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. Even the upcoming Red Magic 3 also sports the same 7nm chipset but it won’t be supporting 5G network.

On the front, the Nubia Mini 5G sports a 5.7-inch IPS display with Full HD+ (2160 × 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. There is also a 2.5 curved glass laid on the top. The device includes 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is no mention of the presence of the MicroSD card slot. While the Nubia Z18 Mini came with 24MP + 5MP dual camera setup on the rear, the new Nubia Mini 5G comes with 48MP + 5MP dual camera setup. On the front, it uses the same 8MP sensor for selfies.

The Nubia Mini 5G runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie based Nubia AI UI 7.0 which is mentioned to be specially customized for this smartphone. With the inclusion of the Snapdragon X50 modem, the device will be supporting China Unicom’s 5G network in China. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz & 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and USB Type-C port. The device will be backed by a 3,450mAh non-removable battery and supports fast charging.

As seen on the Nubia Z18 Mini, the Nubia Mini 5G also comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. It measures 148 × 70.6 × 7.6 mm and weighs 153 grams. The company hasn’t revealed the pricing or the availability of the device. It is rumored to be priced lower than the other 5G smartphones available in China. As of now, the Snapdragon 855-powered smartphones without 5G support are retailing for CNY 3000 (approx USD 445 / INR 31,000). However, we expect the Nubia Mini 5G to be made available outside of China. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
