Nokia 9 Pureview with Penta-Lens Camera to Launch in India for Rs 46,999

At the MWC 2018 held in Barcelona, HMD Global unveiled a few budget Android One smartphones along with the high-end Nokia 9 PureView smartphone. The Nokia 9 PureView is the world’s first smartphone to feature five-camera setup on the rear. As of now, the company has launched it only in the US and selected markets across Europe and Asia. Based on the latest reports, the Nokia 9 Pureview will be officially launched in the Indian market by the end of this market. It is rumored to come with a whopping price tag of Rs 46,999.
Talking about the device, it has initially faced several issues mainly related to the camera app. Even though the device comes with the penta-lens camera, there is no OIS support. It sports 2x 12MP RGB sensors and 3x 12MP Monochrome sensors with f/1.82 aperture and ZEISS optics. With these 5 sensors, the device can collect up to 10-times the amount of light compared to the smartphone with a single camera sensor. For selfies, there is a single 20MP front-facing camera. It comes with a 5.99-inch OLED display with Quad HD+ (2560 × 1440 pixels) resolution and supports HDR10 playback.
It also comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and rear. Instead of using the latest 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform, the company has opted for the last-gen 10nm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. It comes with coupled with Kryo 385 CPU and Adreno 630 GPU. The device packs 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS flash storage. However, there is no MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It is backed by a 3,320mAh non-removable battery and support fast charging and also wireless charging. It also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and supports face unlock.
Just like the other Nokia Android smartphones, the new Nokia 9 Pureview also joins the Android One family and runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Though the device sports single speaker, it comes with 3 mics for OZO audio spatial recording. It is also IP67 certified for the water and dust resistance. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, and USB Type-C. There is no 3.5mm audio jack on this device. Both the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge. It measures 155 x 75 x 8 mm and weighs 172 grams.
The device comes only in Midnight Blue color and is priced at USD 699 (approx INR 48,500) in the US. With the rumored Rs 46,999 price tag, the Nokia 9 Pureview will be hard to sell even for the cameras enthusiasts as it lacks the performance to compete with the other flagship smartphones.
