The Nokia 6 launched at the MWC 2017 is the most powerful smartphone from HMD Global till the Nokia 8 launch. While the flagship Nokia 8 packs the Snapdragon 835 processor, the Nokia 6 is powered by a mere Snapdragon 430 processor. However, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 smartphones launched alongside the Nokia 6 came with even less powerful processors. Even before the global launch of Nokia 6, the device is already on sale in China. However, it lacks the Google Play services and comes with a totally different UI.

Nokia 6 (2018) Powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC Might Launch in Early 2018

(December 8th, 2017)

Recently, we are listening rumors about the upcoming Nokia smartphones from HMD Global. The all-new Nokia 9 along with Nokia 8 (2018) are rumored to go official on January 19th in China. Now, the leaks suggest the company will also launch the Nokia 6 (2018) smartphone in early 2018. Unlike the first-gen Nokia 6, the new Nokia 6 (2018) might come with Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor. There are already a few Snapdragon 660 powered smartphones in the Chinese market.

Even though the Nokia 6 (2018) launches in January 2018 in China, the global launch might happen only at the MWC 2018. Based on the leaked packaging label, the Nokia 6 (2018) comes with the model number TA-1054 and includes dual SIM support. The device comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. We might also see a Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio on this device. The capacitive navigation buttons will be replaced by on-screen buttons and the fingerprint sensor will be placed on the rear of the device.

Nokia 6 (2018) First Look Revealed by TENAA

(December 12th, 2017)

Last week, we talked about the leaked specifications of the Nokia 6 (2018) smartphone. Now, the device is listed on TENAA with the model number TA-1054. On the design, the device looks similar to the first-gen Nokia 6. Instead of the bigger display, the company will be offering the same 5.5-display in a smaller form factor. With the minimal bezels, there will be no physical home button on the front of the smartphone.

The fingerprint sensor can be spotted on the rear of the device. Instead of placing it between the rear camera and LED flash, the fingerprint sensor sits just below the large camera module. The device comes with a metal unibody design, and the curved antenna bands are placed across the top and bottom edges. On the front, the 18:9 display comes covered with a 2.5D curved glass. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery.

The Nokia (2018) measures 148.8×75.8×8.15 mm. Both the volume rocker and power button are placed on the right edge. It also supports dual SIM dual standby and might come with the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. As said earlier, the device will first go on sale in China. Based on the rumors, the launch event is expected to happen by the end of January 2018.

Under the hood is the octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and we expect it to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon-600 series Mobile Platform.

It packs 4GB of RAM and will be available in 32GB and 64GB storage variants. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage.
