Nokia 4.2 Android One Smartphone with 13MP Dual Cameras Launched in India

At the MWC 2019, HMD Global unveiled Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 budget smartphones alongside the Nokia 9 Pureview. As teased earlier, the company has officially launched the Nokia 4.2 smartphone today in the Indian market. The Nokia 4.2 is also the first 4-series smartphone to launch in India. Unlike the other budget smartphones, the new Nokia smartphone comes with a 2.5D curved glass on the front and rear. Even though the device comes with a waterdrop notch display, the bezels are relatively thicker than other similar looking smartphones. The Nokia 4.2 will be available in Black and Pink color options.

Just like other Nokia Android smartphones, the new Nokia 4.2 is also part of the Android One family. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with no bloatware or additional customizations. On the front, we will be looking at a 5.71-inch FullView display with HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 Mobile Platform clocked at 1.95GHz. It is built on the 12nm FinFET node and comes coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. While the company announced the Nokia 4.2 in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 16GB and 32GB of internal storage respectively, the company only launched the 3GB RAM variant in India.

There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expanding the storage up to 400GB. The Indian variant also supports dual SIM dual standby. In the camera department, the device sports 13MP + 2MP dual camera setup on the rear with f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and only comes with a 5V/2A (10W) power adapter. The company also mentioned the device to give up to 18 hours of talk time and lasts up to 25 days on standby mode. It measures 148.95 x 71.30 x 8.39 mm and weighs 161 grams.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and also supports face unlock using the front camera. While the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge, the dedicate Google Assistant button is on the left edge. Also, the power button doubles up as a notification LED light.
