Nokia 3 (2017) Starts receiving Android 9.0 Pie Update

Ever since HMD Global has been releasing Android One powered Nokia smartphones, the company has been consistent in rolling out timely updates as promised. Nokia devices have started receiving Google Android Pie update as promised for a while, and now, even the entry-level Nokia 3 has also started receiving Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie update alongside the most recent security patch as well.

According to HMD Global’s CPO Juho Sarvikas has taken Twitter to announce the new Android Pie update rollout to entry-level Nokia 3 smartphone. This certainly is promising from HMD because Nokia 3 has released back in 2017 and was running on Android Nougat, which later has been updated to Android Oreo and the same device finally gets the taste of Android Pie as well.

Despite the device being two years old, the new Android Pie update rollout should make the Nokia 3 feel faster since Android Pie has been good at optimizing the older phones as well. The update rollout should begin starting today, and the Nokia 3 users would start receiving the OTA (over-the-air) update in a week or so. Users can navigate to system updates in their phone settings menu and check the update manually as well.

As for the Android Pie update changelog to Nokia 3 is concerned, there will be significant changes including new UI changes, improved notifications, System Settings overhaul and Google’s latest Digital Wellbeing, meaning now you can monitor and control your phone’s usage patterns, new gesture-based navigation options and more.

To recap, the Nokia 3 (2017) features a 5-inch IPS LCD HD display, which is powered by MediaTek’s 6736 processor followed by 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in storage that further has an expandable storage option (unto 128GB via microSD).
