Nokia 2.2 with Helio A22 SoC & 3000mAh Battery Launched in India

HMD Global has finally launched its new Android One smartphone today in India. While the company is rumored to launch the Nokia 9 Pureview and Nokia 6.2 smartphones, it actually came with an entry-level smartphone called Nokia 2.2. The Nokia 2.2 (a.k.a Nokia 2 2019) is the successor to last years Nokia 2.1. As seen on the newly launched Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 smartphones, the new Nokia 2.2 also comes with a dedicated hardware button for Google Assistant.

It sports a glossy finish polycarbonate body and comes with a removable back cover. Talking about the specifications, it sports a 5.71-inch waterdrop notch display with HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. There is also a 2.5D curved glass on the top of the display. Under the hood, the Nokia 2.2 comes powered by 12nm MediaTek Helio A22 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. It comes in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 16GB and 32GB of internal storage respectively.

There is also a dedicated MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage on this device. In terms of optics, the Nokia 2.2 sports a 13MP camera on the rear with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP camera on the front for selfies. According to the company, the low-light fusion technology will help the users in capturing better photos even in low lighting conditions. Just like other Nokia smartphone, the new Nokia 2.2 is also part of the Android One family.

The device runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie out of the box and gets two years of guaranteed major Android updates and regular monthly security patch updates. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and there is no fast charging support. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. The power button on this device also doubles up as the notification LED light.

While there is no fingerprint scanner on this device, it at least supports face unlock using the front camera. It comes in Black and Steel color options and will be available in India starting June 11th. Talking about the pricing, the Nokia 2.2 with 2GB and 3GB of RAM is priced at Rs 7,699 and Rs 8,699 respectively. However, both the 2GB and 3GB RAM variants of Nokia 2.2 will be available for just Rs 6,999 and Rs 7,999 under promotional pricing till June 30th. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
