OnePlus has started updating its OnePlus 6 and 6T smartphones with its DC dimming feature which we have seen on its flagship OnePlus 7 Pro. The new update to the OnePlus 6 series brings more utility to the screen recorder and weather apps and also brings July security patch. This new OxygenOS Open Beta won’t be available for everyone as it is limited to beta testers.

If you are already on beta, you will be receiving the update via OTA or else the users need to flash the beta firmware from the OnePlus website. The size of the update is 275MB and it is requested to update when the phone has enough battery. The DC dimming feature was promised to be rolled out to the older OnePlus devices which lowered the actual amount of power going to the display at brightness levels. It also generates less heat and also avoids excessive flashing that can cause eye fatigue.

The beta testers can enable this feature from the Settings of the phone and then heading to the Utilities and then to OnePlus Laboratory and select DC Dimming. Furthermore, it also adds a new feature to Screen Recorder and Weather along with few bug fixes and improves stability. The changelog includes hiding floating widget while recording and also update adds more options for resolutions, fps and bit rate.

The new update will bring a new UI design and adds popular cities for search suggestions. Apart from these general bug fixes and brings stability. Once the user migrates to beta path the users will be getting Open Beta OTAs and will not be getting regular updates anymore. You can also move to Official patch with a full install and clean flash.
