Reliance’s Jio 4G has become extremely popular now with time and there’s no need to discuss its popularity here as we all know about it. A huge chunk of smartphone users have opted for Jio and are still using the services that are being offered by the company. However, one of the basic requirement for Jio is that you need to have a 4G smartphone with VoLTE enabled on it in order to make voice calls to other numbers. This is because Jio is an IP-based network and won’t work on the smartphones without 4G.

And due to the exact basic requirement, even iPhone 5, 5s and 5C users were unable to take advantage of the services. The iPhone 5 series does have 4G support but none of them have VoLTE to support for the voice calls on Jio 4G network. However, now with the new update, this feature is now also supported on the 5 and 5s as well. The update to the Jio 4G Voice app on the iOS now brings this feature to the 5 and 5s as well. Yes, you read that right. With Jio4GVoice, you can now use your iPhone 5, 5s to make HD voice and video calls to any landline or mobile number anywhere in the world.

JioJoin renamed to Jio4GVoice Adds New Interface, Dialer & More Features

And not just calling, the Jio 4G Voice app also brings in a lot of other features as well like customized messaging, images & location-sharing on the receiver’s screen, etc. You can also use the ‘Urgent Call’ feature to intimate the receiver that the call is urgent and you should receive it. And you can also use the SMS and chat option.

The configuration process of Jio4GVoice is as follows:

  1. Insert a Jio SIM into your iPhone
  2. Download latest version of Jio4GVoice from the Appstore
  3. Launch the app and configuration process will start using the Jio SIM inserted in your iPhone.
  4. Your iPhone is now VoLTE ready to explore VVM & RCS features.

Doing this will make your Non-VoLTE iPhone 5 or 5S VoLTE and RCS ready. And on the plus side, these smartphones are being sold at an offer price now and you can get them under 20,000 INR quite easily. Having said that, let us know what do you think about this?
