Motorola Announces Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus & Moto E5 Play Smartphones

The all new Moto G6 smartphones are now officially unveiled. Motorola also updated the affordable Moto E lineup by launching three new devices – Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 Play. On the design front, all the three devices look similar with the curved body and huge rear camera module. The Moto dimple on the rear of these devices come with an integrated fingerprint sensor. While the Moto G6 devices are already on sale in Brazil, the new Moto E5 devices will be launching in the next couple of months.

Moto E5

The Moto E5 sports a 5.7-inch Max Vision display and offers HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor coupled with Adreno 308 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The device comes with 16GB of onboard storage that can be further expandable up to 128GB via a MicroSD card. It will be available on single SIM and dual SIM variants, and only the single SIM variant offers NFC support.

It sports a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and 5MP front camera for selfies. Both the front and rear cameras come equipped with LED flash. It measures 154.4 × 72.2 × 8.95 mm and weighs 174 grams. The Moto E5 is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and supports 5V/2A (10W) fast charging. The device will be available in Flash Gray and Fine Gold color options.

Moto E5 Plus

Compared to the Moto E5, the Moto E5 Plus comes with a bigger display and sports better specifications. It also comes with a glossy finish body with water repellent coating. On the front is a large 6-inch IPS 18:9 display that offers HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) resolution. While there is no information about the processor, it comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with minor Moto customizations.

Talking about the cameras, there is a 12MP camera on the rear with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, laser autofocus, and LED flash. For selfies, the Moto E5 Plus is equipped with an 8MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. The device is backed by a 5000mAh non-removable and supports 15W TurboPower fast charging. It comes in Black, Flash Gray, Mineral Blue, and Fine Gold color options. The device measures 161.9 x 75.3 x 9.35 mm and weighs 200 grams.

Moto E5 Play

The Moto E5 Play is the most affordable Moto smartphone in the current lineup. It is also the only smartphone to still sport the 16:9 display. The device comes with a 5.2-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425/427 quad-core processor. There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be further expandable using a MicroSD card slot. In terms of optics, there is an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front camera.

It is backed by a 2,800mAh removable battery that supports up to 5V/2A (10W) power input. The Moto E5 Play measures 151 x 74 x 8.85 mm and weighs 150 grams. It will be available in Black, Dark Lake, and Flash Gray color options. The device runs on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Just like the other new Moto devices, the Moto E5 Play also comes with water repellent coating.
