Misfit, a California based wearables company, has announced the successor to their flagship product, Shine 2. The original Shine was launched via the Indiegogo campaign in 2012, the company has come quite the long way for being a crowd source success. Only a few companies have managed that and Misfit is one of them.
The Shine 2 is more focused in enhancing the current features than a complete design, as it still sports the same design language. You can see the same 12 pin-prick LED dots in a clock-like formation. Though, this light display helps in saving battery life and thus making this wrist band efficient.
Company claims that the new Shine packs more advanced hardware and firmware that should improve the touch responsiveness of the light display. Using the capacitive sensing technology, you get resourceful options with three tap touch gestures.
The Misfit Move feature is incorporated on the Shine 2, which allows the device to vibrate when you have been unactive for more than a considerable amount of time. It is compatible with Misfit Link that is considered to be the ground breaking software experience. Present on the original Shine, the activity tracker can offer features much more than just tracking your footsteps and calories. With Misfit Link, you can change the music on your smartphone, take a selfie from it via triple tapping on the light display.
The Shine 2 doesn’t require charger as it has the battery life of 6 months with user replaceable coin cell battery. Moreover, the device is water resistant up to 50 meters, so you don’t have to worry about getting sweaty during the morning or evening workouts with Misfit shine. The sensors include 3-axis accelerometer and newly added 3-axis magnetometer for advanced activity sleep tracking.
The elegant wrist band would be available in two unique colors, Carbon Black, and Rose Gold. For a $99 price the Shine 2 would be retailing in the United States from November 1st. We don’t know when this upgrade would be going on sale in other regions. Recently company started to sell their three wearables (Misfit Flash, Shine and Link ) in India via Snapdeal and thus we expect company to introduce the latest Shine in India sooner.
Currently, there are many wearables in the market right now that offer sleep tracking facilities. The most affordable is the Xiaomi Mi Band and Amazefit, which is developed in partnership with Xiaomi. There are many options in the market right now, and you could go with any of them according to your budget. But one thing is to be noted that the devices that can offer most quality features in their price should be considered to buy.
